This term 10W have visited Solihull College and The NEC Skills Show where they have learnt about opportunities for the future. We also took part in National Film Week where our class visited the MAC theatre to watch Felix.
Every lesson pupils have the opportunity to earn Merits, our positive reward system. Merits are earned through completing their work, always trying their best and having a positive contribution to the lesson. In KS4 when a pupil has earned 300 merits they will be rewarded with a £5 gift voucher. Our top three merit achievers so far are:
We have been working really hard earning our hot drinks on the 'Hard Work Café' board!
Each week pupils are able to earn a roll of the dice for our Homeworkopoly board. Pupils earn this by completing their homework. They are then able to move around the board earning rewards such as extra merits, prizes and no homework for the following week.
Six of our year 10 pupils have been identified and given the opportunity to study GCSE mathematics. Delivered by Mr Lambert and support from Miss Merricks, the pupils will study the OCR Mathematic B – J567 specification, where they will extend their knowledge of number, algebra, geometry, measures and statistics. At the end of the two year course the pupils will complete two examinations, a calculator and non-calculator paper, each 1 hour 30 minutes. Homework will be set weekly and is important that it is completed to ensure topics are embedded. Please see below useful links to OCR and revision websites.
