eSafety

Here at Forest Oak School, we have extensive security measures in place which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any Online Safety incidents are recorded by our DSLs and then managed accordingly.

Online Safety is taught to all pupils at the start of a new school year and is embedded in all of our Computing lessons.

Forest Oak School has implemented a new Computing curriculum that has been developed by the Nation Centre for Computing Education. Throughout the entire curriculum, ‘Computing systems and networks – IT around us’ is covered which looks at all aspects of safety online. The lessons are differentiated effectively and age appropriate.

During year 10 and 11, Children at Forest Oak undergo a WJEC Entry Pathways Qualification. One of our mandatory modules titled ‘Online Basics’ covers a vast amount of learning based around E-safety, including: email safety, understanding the internet and working safety online.

Online safety is also covered throughout PHSE at Forest Oak.

Keeping safe Online and Managing online information are covered from years 6 onwards. In years 10 and 11, a module titled ‘Online safety’ covers topics such as ‘Public Private, Keeping Safe Online, Gambling and Managing Online Information’.
