Work Experience
We are in the process of setting up Work Experience placements for our Sixth Form Students. This placement will take place from Monday, 18th June 2018 for one week. All students are expected, with support, to find a suitable placement. Letters and consent forms have previously been sent out.
Therefore, as well as support from their tutor’s, please can you assist as much as possible with encouraging your child to confirm a placement as soon as possible. I am sure that you appreciate that in order to develop your child’s development and transition into adult life, work experience will be extremely valuable.
If you know of any companies that would be willing to support pupils for their work experience placement, please could you fill in the attached form and send it back into school. We will then be able to ensure that all Health and Safety documentation is received and checked prior to students leaving for their placement. We will develop a data base that we will use with future students also. We will be extremely grateful for any assistance with this.
If you wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Christmas Meal
We went to The Swan Hotel in Coleshill for our annual Christmas Carvery!
Costa Visit
On 7th December we all went into Chelmlsey Wood to Costa for a hot chocolate and cake! As part of our Life Skills lessons each student queued up, ordered and paid for what items they wanted. All of the students are gaining confidence whilst out in the community.
Into Film Festival
On 22nd November 2017, we took part in the annual 'Into Film Festival'. We went to the Odeon Cinema in Birmingham to watch 'Kong Skull Island'. Everyone enjoyed the film and we spent the rest of the day looking around the German Market.
Friday Travel Training and Gym Sessions
Each Friday, 6th Form travel via public transport to North Solihull Sports Centre. All of the students are now members of the gym and are able to either do a work out or go swimming. Each student has their own membership card and pays for themselves at the reception desk. All of the students are enjoying going to the gym and it is a great way to end the week!
On our way back to school we go to Chlemsley Wood Shopping Centre where the students are able to buy themselves lunch or have a look around the shops.
Houses Of Parliament Visit
On Monday 9th October 2017, 6th Form students had a fantastic opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament. We had an early start with the coach leaving at 7am! We arrived at 11.45 a.m. and our tour guide, Sophie, showed us around and told told us lots of facts about the Houses of Parliament. After the tour we had a fish and chip lunch. We also went on the London Eye which was amazing. The students then had the chance to buy gifts before we had to get the coach home. Everyone had a great day.
Pitstop sessions
Six of our students are currently completing a 10 week mechanics course with Shaz from Pitstop. They are currently learning how to change and clean spark plugs.
