ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE
Pupils may be admitted to Forest Oak at any time of the year but the majority of admissions take place in September. Forest Oak provides education for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and all pupils enter school with a Statement of Educational Need or Education, Health and Care Plan.
Places are offered by the Local Authority subject to availability and suitability. The Local Authority can be contacted on 0121 704 6690 – Special Education Needs Team.
Forest Oak has an inclusive ethos which is identified within our aims. This means that all pupils’ needs are catered for through inclusive policies, differentiation of the curriculum, integration with access to other establishments both on and off site and ease of accessibility to the building. The new school building has easy access for pupils with all types of disabilities.
Parents and pupil are encouraged to visit school. We discuss how we can best help to ease the move to Forest Oak and make individual arrangements to support this. Upon admission a variety of assessments are undertaken to determine the pupil’s baseline of learning. From this individual targets are set in a ‘Passport to Learning’.
