Autumn Term 2

This term our topic has been World War 2. This topic came with lots of intrigued pupils (and staff) and lots of discussion. We visited the replica of the Trenches at Tudor Grange Kingshurst, this was a great opportunity for the children and we got to see what a real life trench would look like, we got to wear soldier helmets, and we got to see real life weapons that were found on the battlefields, we had loads of fun and even stopped of at Greggs on the way back to school! Furthermore to our topic we watched 'Goodnight Mr Tom' after we had all parents consent, this brought on further discussion about evacuation, and what it was like to be an evacuee, after this we completed diary entree's pretending we were an evacuee. This topic was definitely our best yet, the way the children took masses of interest from it was really impressive.

Also, during this term we have had CHRISTMAS! Of course, this brought lots of fun and joy into Year 6 during the festive period, we decorated our classroom, had an expedition day where we made things to sell at the Christmas Fayre, Met Santa at the Christmas disco, and went to see Puss In Boots at the Belgrade theatre, then to follow on from that went to have our own Christmas dinner at the Toby Carvery. A fun filled, busy half term but one of the best!
