WEEK 3

Making food has all the ingredients for creative and mathematical learning opportunities! When cooking together you are encouraging mathematical thinking by using counting skills to count out ingredients and using everyday mathematical language to describe size, weight and quantity when measuring.

It is good to involve children in the whole process, you could start with writing the list of ingredients together and shopping for the ingredients (online if this is safer and easier!). A recipe using spoonfuls requires children to use their counting skills, but you could also use weighing scales or cups to encourage different levels of thinking.

Here are some easy recipes to try together, we would love to see what you have made!
